Why is that? You could be over 50 but still everyone calls you a guy when you are a patron in a restaurant. It doesn’t matter if you are male or female; you are still ‘one of the guys’.

“Are you guys ready to order?”

“Do you guys need anything else?”

Give us a break.  We aren’t guys.  How about: Folks?  Gents?  Fellas?  Ladies?  Girls?  Anything other than GUYS!

Explanation:

Somewhere along the line we allowed restaurant people to get lazy with their language and so now we all have to pay for it.  “Are you guys okay with this?”  No!  And you shouldn’t be.

Part of training in every restaurant should include a segment on language and common sense.  Hearing the word ‘guys’ for some of us is like hearing fingernails scraping on a blackboard.  Servers have to learn to read their customers. Remember, everyone is different.  Figure us out.  (By the way, you only have 30 seconds to do that, sorry.)

Instead, we all get treated the same.  Lazily.  Look at us.  What do we look like to you?  Guys?
